KSP fatal crash

UPDATE: BEREA – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was notified just after 5:30 am this morning, of a fatal collision on Mount Vernon Rd (US-25 S), just south of Berea.

The initial investigation indicates a 2016 Toyota Highlander operated by Gregory Newman, 50 years old of Berea, KY, turned left from Eagle Point Dr, into the path of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, traveling south on Mount Vernon Rd. As a result of the collision, Newman's passenger was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond, with non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the Chevrolet Cobalt was pronounced deceased at the scene, by the Madison County Coroner. The deceased was identified as Travis Taylor, 34, Cassius Ct., Berea. 

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Trooper Albert Lagrange. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel, Berea Police Department, Berea Fire Department, Madison County EMS and the Madison County Coroner's Office.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Kentucky State Police is investigating a deadly crash which occurred this morning on US 25 South in Berea.

Two vehicles were involved in the fatal collision, which took place around 7:30 a.m., troopers said.

The road was closed for a couple of hours, but was reopened to traffic around 10:30 a.m., according to local law enforcement.

A person was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County coroner.

The identity of the person has not yet been released.
