Steven Frazier, husband of District 81 Representative, Deanna Frazier (R-KY), passed away Friday of an apparent heart attack, sources close to The Richmond Register said Saturday.
Funeral arrangements for Frazier are currently pending according to Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond.
Friends, colleagues and political leaders took to social media on Friday and Saturday to express their condolences to the Frazier family.
“Thinking of my colleague and friend, Deanna Frazier, State Representative. Her husband passed away yesterday. We are keeping her and her family in our thoughts and prayers,” Sen. Jared Carpenter (R-Berea), who represents the 34th District including Madison and Rockcastle Counties, and the southern portion of Fayette County, posted on Facebook Saturday.
The Republican Party of Madison County also issued a statement on Facebook which said:
“We ask that you please keep Deanna Frazier State Representative in your prayers as her beloved husband Steven Frazier...”
Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky, Mac Brown, released a statement on social media saying, “We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Steven Frazier. Our hearts are with Deanna and her family. We ask everyone to join us in lifting the Frazier family up in prayer through this difficult time.”
Mike Eaves, a democrat who is challenging Deanna Frazier for the 81st House District Seat in Madison County, also took to Facebook to express his sympathy.
“I learned this morning of the death of Steven Frazier, husband of state Rep. Deanna Frazier. I'm so sorry to hear the news and wish to extend my sincere sympathies to both Deanna and the family. My prayers are with them during this most difficult time,” Eaves wrote.
Frazier, an Madison Central High School alum, was employed by Eastern Kentucky University for many years; most recently as Project Manager and Administrator.
He was a deacon at Unity Baptist Church in Richmond.
He and his wife have two sons, Jacob and John.
