The ninth annual Jail and Bail fundraiser was held at Central Bank to raise money for the Hope's Wings Domestic Violence Shelter. Officials from the cities of Richmond and Berea and Madison County were present to raise money for the cause. The jail and bail fundraiser fake-arrests community members who have to "post bail" before leaving the make-shift jail in the basement of the bank. Last year, the event raised more than $30,000, which went towards funding renovations to the center adding on two rooms, a bathroom and a learning center. Kentucky State Attorney General Daniel Cameron made an appearance at the fundraiser to discuss with Lainhart the county's Blueprint for Safety program, which calls for county agencies, including 911, local law enforcement, county prosecutors, the county jailer and probation and parole, to follow certain standards in dealing with domestic violence cases.
