Whether it is the first meeting a new friend, the first time in a new classroom or the first time a student sees their favorite teacher, Wednesday was a day of firsts for students in the Madison County Schools district. However, the day was specifically special for kindergarten students and their families, such as those at Madison Kindergarten Academy, celebrating their first, first day of school.

"It's their first experience in their entire education and we want it to be easy so they feel welcome and safe," said MKA Principal Jennifer Martin. Top concerns for many parents are transportation and making sure their students can navigate the school with ease and comfort.

To make it fun for MKA kindergarten students and give them the best first impression of education, they are given three recesses and engage in special-themed classroom activities that welcome them to the building, as well as a school-bus tour.
