Rodeo

The Richmond Rodeo Days Shootout will be held at the fairgrounds indoor arena Sept. 19-20 at 7:30 p.m.

“Richmond hasn’t had a pro rodeo event in quite some time, so I think it’s a great, brand new event to bring to town,” Owner of Big Hat Pro Rodeo, Lenora Nolan said. “There will be lots of colors, excitement and great music along with a wonderful rodeo clown.”

Trent McFarland is coming from the East Coast to be the rodeo clown this weekend, and according to Nolan he is hysterically funny, with family friendly acts.

“It’s going to be a really exciting event,” said Nolan. “There will be some current world champions present, and the top-15 guys from all over the country. There will be 17 states represented at the rodeo.”

The top eight will compete in a short round Saturday, evening with a shootout between the top two in each event.

“Big Hat Rodeo’s staff works hard to reach one common goal and that is, to make every performance the wildest, most exciting and fun it can be,” according to a news release.

“There will be terrific competition as far as rodeo goes and it will be a great deal of fun,” said Nolan.
