Richmond police arrested a man on several charges after responding to reports of a fight and an attempted break-in on Monday evening.
Joel Bailey, 47, Menelaus Road, Berea, was charged with third-degree terroristic threatening, attempted second-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault, alcohol intoxication in a public place and resisting arrest .
When officers arrived, they found Bailey beating on the door of the apartment on Ballard Drive, according to his arrest citation.
He had blood on his hands, and there was blood all over the door.
Officers had him sit down while they spoke with a resident who had multiple bruises, knots and cuts on their face, the citation states. They said Bailey assaulted them at their home.
Afterward, they left their home and went to the apartment on Ballard Drive. They said Bailey followed them and tried to break in, the citation states.
Multiple witnesses also told police Bailey was trying to break into the apartment, according to the citation.
Madison County EMS was called to attend to the victim.
Officers arrested Bailey, and during the arrest, he ignored officers' commands and also threatened police multiple times as he was being taken to the Madison County Detention Center, the citation states. He said he was going to kill the arresting officer.
Bailey remained in jail Tuesday afternoon, according to online jail records.
