Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond was notified late Saturday night about possible human remains located off Old Lexington Road in northern Madison County.
An unidentified female body was discovered after being found on the side of the road. The body has since been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy and identification.
"Right now, I've got nothing at all. The body is still in Frankfort at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort," Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said on Monday. "They're going to try and fingerprint and hopefully make some connections."
While Cornelison has said foul play is expected, he couldn't release any further information.
The area near Old Clays Ferry Bridge on Old Richmond Road was blocked off by police for several hours as investigators swept the area, making sure not to miss any evidence.
Anyone with information about the deceased female’s identity, or with information that would be pertinent to the investigation, is asked to contact the KSP Richmond Post at 859-623-2404.
The ongoing death investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Detective Adam Hall. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Madison County Coroner.
