A 35-year-old male died following a crash with an abandoned car on an interstate exit Thursday morning.
Travis Blackburn, 35, of Indiana, was driving southbound when he took exit 90B off of Interstate-75 just before 6 a.m., according to Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison. Cornelison said he struck an abandoned vehicle that was on the right side of the road, causing tremendous damage.
"I pronounced him dead at the scene," Cornelison said.
The coroner also said the man was driving at a high rate of speed before the crash. Crews spent more than two hours cleaning up the debris, including a gas spill.
