Madison County deputies arrested three people on several charges after they allegedly were fishing on private property Monday night.

Deputies had received a call about suspicious activity on Barnes Mill Road involving a red truck driving around and parking in front of a gate to private property, according to a citation. The caller said they saw two Hispanic men running through a field.

Deputies responded to the area and found Gergorio Alcudia, 37, Charlie Norris Road, and Martin Barrea, 28, Red House Road, Berea, the citation states. Both of them smelled of alcohol, and Alcudia told deputies they were walking from Poosey Ridge to get something to eat.

Alcudia said he called a friend to pick them up, the first citation states. Barrea told deputies they had been fishing. As deputies were talking to them, Eliseo Gonzalez, 33, Dixie Plaza, arrived with Alcudia's truck. He claimed he was at the residence to pick up his friends, a second citation states.

Deputies could smell alcohol coming from Gonzalez, and he said he had drank a couple of beers. He also couldn't provide a license, the second citation states.

A field sobriety test wasn't performed because of a language barrier, and during a search, deputies couldn't find proof of insurance, the second citation states.

However, during the search, deputies found a bag that was moving on the floor board, the second citation states. When deputies looked inside, they saw fish that were still alive, and Gonzalez's clothes were wet.

Deputies found two other bags containing fish, along with a casting net and a bag of chicken feed. Gonzalez said he had been fishing, the second citation states. The owner of the property said there was a lake on the property.

Gonzalez was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., no operator's license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, second-degree criminal trespassing, nonresident hunting/trapping without a license/permit, second offense entry on land to shoot/hunt/fish trap without consent and illegal taking of wildlife. He was also arrested on warrants for nonpayment and failure to appear.

Alcudia and Barrea were charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, second-degree criminal trespassing, nonresident hunting/trapping without a license/permit, second offense entry on land to shoot/hunt/fish trap without consent and illegal taking of wildlife.

The three were taken to the Madison County Detention Center, where Gonzalez and Alcudia remained Tuesday afternoon, according to online jail records. Barrea was released Tuesday morning.
