A man was arrested Friday for leaving the scene of a fatal accident on Thursday that killed Justin Ray Napier, 25, Elizabethtown.
Madison County sheriff's deputies were called to the accident on Lexington Road at 9:18 p.m., according to a citation.
A man later identified as Brandon Hernandez, 22, Lexington Road, Richmond, was an occupant of a truck that struck Napier while he was driving a motorcycle, the citation continues. Hernandez then fled the scene.
Deputies were told there were possibly drugs or alcohol in the truck and were given the location of where Hernandez could be found.
Police went to speak with him, and he said he was drinking in the vehicle, but said he was a passenger. Deputies asked him if he called 911, and he said he called friends for help on what to do, the citation states.
He said he didn't call 911 and only knew about police being at the scene when he heard the sirens. He declined to answer further questions.
Hernandez was taken to the Madison County Detention Center and was released Saturday morning, according to online jail records. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid/assistance with death or serious physical injury.
