UPDATE 01/07/5:45PM: When reached, spokespersons for the FBI and the US District Attorney’s Office were unable to provide comment about the case at this time.
Gus LaFontaine, the co-founder of LaFontaine Preparatory School, released a press release Tuesday that explained that Larry Foley, a LaFontaine Preparatory School employee, had been arrested.
LaFontaine writes that he was notified Monday afternoon that a federal law enforcement agency had searched Foley’s residence. Throughout the evening, he kept up with the investigation and learned that Foley had been arrested, according to the release.
LaFontaine explained that as soon as he learned of the allegations against Foley he was terminated. Foley had been a part-time teacher this year and had previously been a third through fifth grade social studies and engineering teacher.
LaFontaine said investigators assured him none of the students of LaFontaine Preparatory School or other staff/faculty were involved in the case. He said school families had been notified and he is seeking advice from counseling professionals on how to share the news with students.
“I share the concerns of our school family. Four out of my five children attend our school. As their father, I am in a unique position to ensure that their school experience is not only high in educational quality, but safe. I feel the same personal responsibility toward the children of our school families,” LaFontaine said in the press release.
