After a man was found dead in the cab of his semi-truck on Tuesday at the Exit 95 Shell Mart, officials are now conducting a murder investigation.
The initial investigation by the Kentucky State Police, Post 7 indicated that 58-year-old Abdul R. Muzaki, of Canada, parked his semi-truck in the parking lot at the corner of KY-627 and US-25, north of Richmond. A press release from KSP states that during the overnight hours, an incident occured and Muzaki was fatally injured.
Muzaki was pronounced deceased at the scene by Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison, and taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy. KSP public information officer Robert Purdy said that based on the preliminary investigation, things found at the scene and the initial autopsy, there was enough to conclude that Muzaki did not die from natural causes.
Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, Purdy said they weren't releasing details of Muzaki's death.
Troopers are asking anyone who saw any suspicious activity near the Exit 95 Shell Mart between the hours of 9 p.m. on Monday night and 5 p.m. on Tuesday to contact KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Detective Charles Brandenburg. He was assisted at the scene by KSP personnel, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Madison County Coroner.
