A Madison County grand jury charged a man with first-degree assault in Madison Circuit Court, Division 1, on Aug. 21.

According to a June Register article, Brandon Greer, 23, Newport Lane, Berea, was arrested after officers were called to Kara Drive, where it was reported he stabbed another person in their neck.

Officers arrived and spoke with witnesses, who said Greer, the victim and another person had just arrived at the Kara Drive location in a pickup truck, according to a citation.

Witnesses said Greer was in the rear passenger seat of the truck, and the victim was in the driver's seat, the citation states. Without warning, Greer attacked the victim from the back seat, stabbing them in the right side of their neck, witnesses said.

Greer then fled from the truck to the back of a residence on Kara Drive, according to the citation. Officers found him on the back porch and arrested him.

The victim, who was bleeding heavily, was taken to a Berea hospital by family members before first responders had a chance to arrive, the citation states. Madison County EMS then took the victim to UK Hospital.

• Anthony Cornelison, 53, Brandy Lane, Richmond, first-degree controlled substance trafficking (heroin), first-degree controlled substance trafficking (fentanyl), first-degree controlled substance trafficking (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine), second-degree controlled substance trafficking (unspecified drug) and first-degree persistent felony offender.

An indictment does not indicate guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to proceed with prosecution.
