Richmond police arrested a woman for fourth-degree assault and first-degree strangulation Sunday after officers responded to a domestic violence complaint early Sunday morning.
When officers arrived, the victim said Jaime Garner, 44, West Main Street, Richmond, pushed them down and squeezed their neck tightly, according to a citation.
Officers also spoke with Garner, who admitted to pushing the victim down, but said she didn't choke the victim, the citation states. Garner said she put her body weight on the victim and might have put her weight just below the victim's neck.
Garner was taken to the Madison County Detention Center, where she remained Monday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Madison County sheriff's deputies arrested Rebecca Brown, 46, Irvine, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. and first-degree wanton endangerment after deputies responded to a fight in progress early Sunday morning.
Deputies arrived and spoke with Brown and noticed she had slurred speech and glassy eyes, according to a citation. Brown agreed to take a breath test, which detected the presence of alcohol.
Brown then refused to submit to a field sobriety test, according to the citation.
Witnesses then told deputies that Brown had been driving on Irvine Road toward Richmond and came up on their vehicle at a high rate of speed, the citation states. The witnesses thought Brown was going to hit their vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle said they had to speed up and pulled into the parking lot of a Shell gas station to get away from Brown, but Brown pulled in behind them, the citation states.
Deputies observed Brown for 20 minutes, and Brown submitted to a portable breath test, which indicated a breath alcohol content of 0.116, the citation states.
Brown was taken to the MCDC, where she remained Monday afternoon, according to online jail records.

• Bradley Myers, 28, Irvine, first-degree disorderly conduct and theft by unlawful taking (more than $500, but less than $10,000).
• Devon Gerald, 29, South Killarney Lane, Richmond, first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine), buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, contempt of court and failure to appear.
• Amy Cox, 39, Junior Vaughn Road, Richmond, illegal possession of legend drug, first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine), marijuana possession and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.
• Shonna Rogers, 46, homeless, buying/possessing drug paraphernalia and possession of synthetic drugs.
