Joel Mendoza, 41, Richmond, is charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence with minor injury) after being arrested by Richmond police.

According to a citation, police went to Mendoza's location in reference to a domestic complaint.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim who told the officers Mendoza struck her in the mouth with a closed fist. Police could see blood on her shirt and her lip. She was still bleeding from her lip, a citation noted.

According to a citation, the victim told police she called law enforcement and Mendoza ran out the door because he was afraid to go to jail. Police located Mendoza and arrested him on Sunday. He was transported to the Madison County Detention Center and released on Monday.

Woman arrested for assault

Amber Slone, 36, Richmond, is charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence/minor injury) after being arrested by the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

According to a citation, a deputy was sent to Slone's location in reference to a domestic assault.

When the deputy arrived, they spoke with the victim who said she was hit by Slone. The victim told the deputy they had been arguing over schoolwork. Slone allegedly tried to make the victim lay in the dog's bed and threw bread crumbs at her saying, "here's your treats" and then as the victim tried to leave they struggled and Slone grabbed the victim by the hair and shoulder. Slone then allegedly struck the victim in the face and on the body.

Slone was arrested on Sunday and taken to the Madison County Detention Center. She was released on the same day.

Other arrests include:

• Taylor Ison, 40, Berea, serving parole violation warrant, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than or equal to 2 gms of methamphetamine), illegal possession of a legend drug, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.

• Scott Huffman, 54, Livingston, Ky, theft by unlawful taking or distribution of items under the price of $500, second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), prescription of a controlled substance not in a proper container (first offense).

• William Croucher, 40, Berea, second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief.

• Alexander Reece, 25, Richmond, failure to appear, non-payment of court costs, fees, or fines, speeding 23 miles per hour over limit, no registration plates, license to be in possession, possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
