Judge Logue of Circuit Court Division II sentenced a woman to eight years in prison for trafficking in a controlled substance (2 grams or more of methamphetamine), one year for first-degree controlled substance possession and 12 months for buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, all to be served concurrently.
According to a previous Register article, Mary White, 37, Moberly Avenue, Richmond, was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance following an overdose. Officers went to a room at Countryside Inn and received permission to search it, according to a citation. During the search, officers found about 8.1 grams of methamphetamine in large shards inside a duffel bag, a baggie with about 0.4 grams of an unknown substance, several hundred baggies used to package methamphetamine, 57 hypodermic syringes, four methamphetamine pipes, a baggie with unused cotton filters and a digital scale.
The duffel bag belonged White, the article states.
All the paraphernalia was unused and was nearby the methamphetamine, suggesting it was ready for sale, the citation states. Officers also found two more digital scales in the room, more baggies for packaging, a cigarette pack containing 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and $758 cash on White's person.
Officers spoke with White, who said she wasn't trafficking in methamphetamine and that everything was only for personal use, the citation states. She also said she wasn't aware she had that much methamphetamine.
