Man charged with murder of Estill County woman

Death Investigation

IRVINE - A man has been arrested for a woman's death in Estill County. 

According to the Kentucky State Police, Christopher Roberts, 43, of Irvine was arrested on Saturday morning and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. 

He is currently being held at Three Forks Regional Detention Center in Lee County. 

According to investigators, on July 7, Kentucky State Police in Richmond were contacted by Estill County 911 just after 10 a.m. regarding the body of a woman found in the road in rural Estill County. 

Troopers and detectives responded to Marbleyard Road, where they found a body later identified as Cindy Donnela Stevens-Roberts, 50, of Irvine. 

Law enforcement said initial an initial investigate revealed the woman had been fatally injured. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Estill County Coroner.

KSP Post 7 Detective Anthony Bowling is conducting the ongoing investigation. He was assisted at the scene by the Estill County Sheriff’s Office, Estill County Coroner’s Office, Irvine Police Department and Estill County EMS.
