A Richmond woman died Friday after an alleged drunk driver lost control of his vehicle and struck her pickup truck, Kentucky State Police reported.

Hallie B. Earles, 58, was driving north on Tates Creek Road at 9:08 a.m. Friday when a southbound 2002 Dodge Ram pickup crossed over the lane and struck her 1993 Chevy pickup.

The driver, Ray Stokley, 34, of Plano, Ill., was not injured. Stokley was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

Earles was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Deputy Coroner Carlos Coyle.

According to police reports, neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in Stokley’s truck, who police identified as “Gypsy,” suffered multiple injuries and was flown to the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Troy Trayner and Detective Michael Stotts.
