A heavy downpour of rain Friday evening caused flooding in several places around Richmond.
Water Street lived up to its name as water rose so high a vehicle that tried to cross Madison Avenue appeared to stall after water reached its engine. A vehicle on Madison Avenue appeared to have floated from its parking place.
Police detoured traffic from Big Hill Avenue after water rose near the Heath Street intersection.
Water also poured from a subdivision retention pond across Boggs Lane, lapping at the doorsteps of at least two homes.
