A Lexington man is facing allegations that he raped a 14-year-old Richmond girl Sunday.
Adam James Dorsey, 23, was staying with friends in Richmond when the incident allegedly occurred. Richmond Police Detective Eric Long said the Dorsey and the child were in the her home when the rape allegedly occurred, while several others were present. The name of the victim is not being released because she is a juvenile.
“Her parents were home at the time,” Long said.
The alleged rape was reported to the police department by the child’s mother, Long said. Though few details are being released at this time, Long said the rape allegedly happened in the early morning hours and force was reportedly used. The child was not injured as a result of the alleged incident, Long said.
Dorsey is charged with first-degree rape, a felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison. He is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
Long just reached the tip of the iceberg in the investigation Sunday, he said. Long will be leading the continuing investigation. No court dates had been scheduled for Dorsey as of Monday afternoon.
