Police say a McKee man pulled into a Berea truck stop and snapped several pictures of a woman in the shower.
Paul S. Byrd, 40, was arrested Saturday afternoon by Kentucky State Police after the incident was reported at the 76 Truck Center just off Exit 76 of Interstate 75.
KSP spokesperson Trooper Paul Blanton said the arrest came after Trooper Keeton interviewed Byrd for more than two hours.
“He spent a while figuring out what happened,” Blanton said.
The alleged victim, who called the Richmond Register, said she was in a shower stall with partitions that did not rise to the ceiling. She happened to look up and was stunned to find herself looking into a camera someone was holding above the shower’s partition.
Police confinscated a cell phone from Byrd and are working on obtaining a search warrant, Blanton said.
The reported victim and her husband drive a long-distance truck together, she said, so coming back to Madison County may not be convenient. However, she said she is determined to make court appearances and assist prosecutors so the case cannot be dropped for lack of testimony.
Byrd was charged with video voyeurism, a Class D felony, and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. He was released Sunday morning on a $2,500 bond, according to the jail’s website.
