The Madison County Coroner’s Office and the Kentucky State Police are conducting a death investigation after a man’s body was found Monday morning in a home on Barker’s Lane just outside Berea.

The body is that of 57-year-old William Keith Johnson, who used to be a Richmond Police officer, said Jimmy Cornelison, Madison County Coroner.

His body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, which was not readily apparent, Cornelison said. That autopsy is scheduled for today, the coroner said.

KSP received the report of the death just before 9 a.m., said Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesperson for KSP. Emergency personnel who responded to the report discovered Johnson’s body.

The investigation is being conducted by Detective Chris Short.

Anyone who has had contact with Mr. Johnson during the past two weeks is asked to call the KSP at 1-800-222-5555.
