The first Berea College Dancing with the Stars event is 7 p.m. Friday in Phelps-Stokes Chapel.
The cost is $3 with proceeds to benefit the Bluegrass Race Crisis Center.
The event will feature former Miss Kentucky and Miss Berea Djuan Trent and local ‘stars’ Reid Connelly, the Rev. Rachel Small-Stokes, Berea College faculty and dance groups.
The crisis center strives to reduce violence in Kentucky and to provide a safe space for women who have been victimized by various forms of abuse. It opened in 1974 as a crisis help line but now has offices in 17 counties, including an office in Richmond.
The center is directed by Berea resident and Berea College graduate Mae Suramek.
Friday’s event is sponsored by People Who Care, one of the community service programs housed in the Center for Excellence in Learning through Service.
