An arrest warrant issued for a woman charged with human trafficking has been recalled by Madison Circuit Judge Jean C. Logue.
Kathy Hart, 44, was scheduled for a competency hearing Wednesday. She and her husband, Anthony Wayne Hart, 48, are accused of forcing their teenage daughters to provide “companionship and affection” to men in exchange for money and goods, according to the indictment.
Kathy Hart, who is out of jail on bond, was scheduled for a competency hearing Wednesday morning in Madison Circuit Court. However, she and her attorney, Mark Stanziano, did not appear, and Logue issued a bench warrant for the woman’s arrest, according to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jennifer Smith.
Smith said after making some calls, she discovered that Stanziano’s father had died the night before the hearing. Hart believed the hearing had been rescheduled, Smith added.
Logue said she had recalled the arrest warrant for Kathy Hart during a status hearing Thursday for Kathy Hart’s husband. The status hearing for the couple was continued to April 19.
Smith said the competency hearing for Kathy Hart has not yet been rescheduled.
