A car was reported stolen shortly after midnight Sept. 29 from a Berea home, and the thief also took the vehicle’s navigational unit.
Berea police are investigating the theft of a 2001 Hyundai from a residence in the 100 block of Washington Avenue, said Capt. Ken Clark, Berea Police Department spokesman.
The car had a Global Positioning System navigational unit installed, Clark said.
The car and GPS unit were valued at $2,200.
Car break-ins
Berea police also investigated a number of thefts from cars recently, Clark said.
Two of the break-ins were reported Sept. 24 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Clark said, one in the 300 block of Pinnacle View Drive and one in the 100 block of Bratcher Lane.
In the first theft, the thief made off with approximately $300 in items, while $400 in items were taken from the Bratcher Lane vehicle.
Police also investigated a Sept. 24 theft from a car parked at an apartment in the 100 block of Miracle Street, Clark said.
In that break-in, a window was shattered and $170 in cash was taken. The theft was reported around 7:15 a.m., Clark said.
Multiple vehicles were broken into on Sept. 25 at a home in the 200 block of Terri Lane. Approximately $87 in items were reported stolen from the cars.
A bookbag and contents were stolen Sept. 22 from an unlocked car parked on Jefferson Street, Clark said. The items were valued at $500.
Other crimes
• A license plate was stolen Sept. 28 from a parked car outside a residence in the 300 block of Brookgreen Drive.
• A washing machine, valued at $125, was reported stolen Sept. 27 from the front porch of a home in the 100 block of Oak Street.
• A burglary was reported Sept. 30 at 1111 Paint Lick Road, but nothing appeared to have been taken. Clark said the damage caused to the building by the break-in was in excess of $1,000.
• Jeffrey C. Bowling, 22, of the 200 block of Forest Street, was arrested Sunday for driving under the influence, first offense, and having one headlight on Jefferson Street.
• A 25-year-old Miracle Street woman was arrested Friday afternoon for shoplifting at Walmart on Jill Street.
• A 32 year-old Topaz Lane man was arrested Saturday afternoon for shoplifting at Walmart on Jill Street.
• A 27-year-old Slate Lick Road woman was arrested Sept. 30 for third-degree possession of a controlled substance and on a failure to appear warrant on Washington Avenue.
• A 27-year-old Brodhead man was arrested Sept. 29 for speeding and no operator’s license on Mount Vernon Road.
• Police arrested five people for alcohol intoxication.
