Fort Boonesborough State Park and the Fort Boonesborough Foundation resume the Fireside Chats series Feb. 1 with famous characters stepping from the pages of Kentucky history.
During each Saturday program, there will be a Taste of Frontier Fare from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. The programs begin at 6:45 p.m. in the 18th Century Tavern blockhouse.
The schedule, historical figures and actors who will portray them include:
Feb. 1 – Daniel Boone (Scott New)
Feb.8 – Pioneer doctor (Albert Roberts)
Feb. 15 – Simon Kenton (Mel Hankla)
Feb. 22 – Eva Lail (Bonnie Stassell)
Tickets are $15 for adults,and $5 for children 12 and under. Reservations are required because of limited seating.
The blockhouse also will be open prior to the chats until about 6:30 p.m. Those who would like to browse the tavern, should plan on arriving a few minutes early. For reservations, call (859) 527-3131.
In addition to a reconstructed fort, the park also has a campground, swimming pool, hiking trails, the Kentucky River Museum, mini-golf, picnic shelters and a gift shop.
