Berea Police are investigating the theft of a heating/air conditioning unit, reported Jan. 18, from a Richmond Road home. The unit was valued at $4,685, according to Capt. Ken Clark, Berea Police spokesperson.
Two utility trailers also were reported stolen last week.
A 16-foot tandem-axle trailer valued at $2,000 was reported stolen Jan. 19 from a Clay Drive parking lot. The next day, a 10-foot utility trailer valued at $1,000 the yard of Brown Street residence.
Also on Jan. 20, a small tool box, a tool chest on castors, a generator and a GPS unit, all valued at $1,700, was taken from a garage on Old Wallaceton Road.
Three home burglaries
Three homes were burglarized in Berea last week.
On Jan. 19, several pockets knives, valued together at $1,450, were reported stolen from a Lilac Drive residence.
On Jan. 17, electronic entertainment equipment was reported stolen from two homes. Also Jan. 17, a Wii game system and other items, valued at $850, were taken from a Spring Circle Drive apartment, and DVDs and some Xbox games were reported taken from a Morningview Road apartment.
No signs of forced entry were found at any of the locations, according to the police reports.
Three thefts from autos
Three vehicles were burglarized last week.
On Jan. 18, a citizens band radio, a GPS unit and other items, with a total value of $860, were taken from a truck parked at a N. Dogwood Drive residence. A window was broken to gain entry. Also Jan. 18, an in-dash stereo valued at $120 was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a Lane Court apartment.
A Kenwood CD player, iPod MP3 player and other items, valued at $198, were taken from a vehicle parked on Estill Street. The owner told police he believed he had locked the vehicle, but no signs of force entry were found.
Three people were charged last week with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
On Jan. 22, Tyler D. Thompson, 22, of Angel Road, was stopped on N. Dogwood Drive and charged with DUI-first offense, driving with expired registration plates and failure to maintain insurance.
Olivia F. Hobbs, 21, of Richmond, was stopped Jan. 21 on KY 595 and charged with DUI-second offense and driving on a suspended operator’s license.
Wilma I. McNew, 67, of Blue Lick Road, was stopped on Mt. Vernon Road and charged with DUI-first offense.
From Jan. 19 through Jan. 22, four people were charged with shoplifting-under $500 after they were detained by employees of the Berea Walmart.
