Gallery on Main art gallery opened the Small Wonders: National Show Tuesday, and for the first time, the gallery made a call to artists on a national level in order to broaden and expand the art on display throughout the gallery. The exhibit displays an array of beautiful work from artists in Kentucky and Ohio with pieces which reflect each individual artist's viewpoint on the concept of wonder. "We are pleased with the participation and community support for our first national show, and hope to grow and expand this event year after year," said Beth Thompson, board member of Gallery on Main. Awards were given out for the top four artistic works on exhibit as judged by Shirley Jeter, an accomplished artist (watercolors and acrylic on canvas) and member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsman Gallery. The awards are as follows: Best of Show, Jennifer Johnston Baker for "Fly Girls"; First Place, "Choppy Waters" by Linda Nelson; Second Place, "Bench at Pond" by Ken Tunnell; and Third Place, "Leaf Echo 1" by Karen Edwards. Musical guests were Bootsie and Funkabilly and their sound contributed to an evening of artistic entertainment. The exhibit continues through Nov. 4 and is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m. at Gallery on Main located inside the Community Trust Bank at 128 W. Main Street.
