The Madison Singers, a program of the Richmond Area Arts Council, are busy rehearsing pops music for their May 7 “Pops and Popsicles” concert.
This enthusiastic group is enjoying singing some familiar music and preparing it for their audience’s pleasure.
The Monday, May 7, concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Arts Center at the corner of Lancaster Avenue at Water Street.
Popsicles will be served during the performance, adding to the relaxed atmosphere..
Among the selections popular songs the Singers will perform will be “Phantom of the Opera” and “Memories,” both by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “The Glory of Love,” by Billy Hill, “Morning Has Broken,” a Gaelic melody arranged by Lee Scott, “Beauty and the Beast” with lyrics by Ashman and music by Menken.
This concert is a favorite of many music lovers in this area and a performance not to be missed!
The group is under the direction of Deborah Kidd, also the Arts Council’s executive director.
Previously the Singers were directed by Danny Jones, who has accepted a position with Alice Lloyd College in eastern Kentucky.
Well-known pianist Linda Hensley accompanies the Singers.
Concert tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the Arts Center or at the door on the evening of the concert.
