This extreme winter weather can really take a toll on your skin.

In the days before I had children, I would treat myself to a nice jar of sugar scub from Bath and Body Works this time of year.

The days of spending $20 on a jar of sugar-and-oil scrub are history now, but through the powers of Pinterest, I have once again been able to treat my feet to some much needed TLC.

Give your hands and feet some special winter care with these easy to made scrubs and body butter.

Lavender coconut salt scrub

2 cups coconut oil

2 cups Epsom salt

30 drops lavender essential oil

Add coconut oil, Epsom salt and essential oil to a small bowl and mix well with a spoon until well combined. Store in an air-tight container.

Be sure to wash out the tub after using this or any other body scrub. You don’t want your husband breaking his neck just so you have soft legs.

Vanilla sugar scrub

1/2 white sugar

2 cups brown sugar

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon honey

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Add sugars and mix together, add olive oil, honey and vanilla and stir well. Store in an air tight container.

I whipped up this semi-homemade body butter last week that is my new favorite lotion to use on my hands. The scent really gives me a pick me up in the morning and I also like that eucalyptus essential oil has antibacterial properties. You could easily switch out the eucalyptus for lavender essential oil.

Eucalyptus body butter

16 oz. container Johnson’s Baby Bedtime Lotion

8 oz. container vitamin E cream

1 cup coconut oil

60 drops eucalyptus essential oil

Mix baby lotion, vitamin E cream and coconut oil together with a mixer on high for at least five minutes, until coconut oil fluffs up. Add in the essential oil and mix well, store in air tight containers.
