GARRARD COUNTY — The Kentucky State Police Richmond Post was called Friday afternoon after police in Garrard County discovered a dead man at a residence, according to a release.
Rodney Meade, 30, of Lancaster, was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound at a residence in northern Garrard County.
The investigation indicates that Dustin Bell, 27, of Lancaster, forced his way into a residence where Meade and a woman were staying. According to the release, an argument began between Bell and the couple. At some point, Bell pulled out a firearm and shot the woman and Meade.
Bell was arrested and lodged in the Lincoln County Detention Center where he was charged with murder, assault in the first degree and burglary in the first degree.
The woman was transported to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Meade’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Det. Frank Thornberry.
