"We did a U-turn and stomped on the accelerator," the Madison County Health Department tweeted when they reported their second single-highest day of case numbers since the pandemic began.
On Tuesday, the local health department announced on social media 153 new coronavirus cases for a total, active case count of 1,310.
The last record for a single-day count was on Nov. 17 when the health department reported 144 cases in a day.
The incident rate is 75.1 cases per 100,000 population.
