A Clay City man held in the Madison County Detention Center since Oct. 20, was indicted last week on two counts of first-degree rape and sodomy of  victims younger than 12.

According to an indictment returned by a Madison County grand jury, Brandon Scott Bonilla, 30, victimized two children, one age 3 and the other age 4, between Aug. 1 and Oct. 20.

Because of past convictions, Bonilla also was indicted on a first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

A Berea man, Ricky Fansler, 46, who pleaded guilty in 2011 to 95 counts of child pornography possession was indicted on a charge of not complying with the Kentucky sex offender registry by failing to report his change of address. He also was indicted on a second-degree persistent felony offender charge.

Toney E. McQueen, 25, of Richmond was indicted on a first-degree assault charge. According to the indictment, he shot Josie Eversole with a sawed-off shotgun.

Eight people were indicted on drug related charges, including:

• Elizabeth Garrett, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, illegal synthetic drug possession, drug paraphernalia possession

• Dejuan Westberry, three counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, first-degree persistent felony offender

• Raymond L. Crutcher, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree persistent felony offender

• William Gene Kelly, two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia possession, public intoxication

• Jason E. Dunn, first-degree possession of a controlled substance

• Amanda Lynn Sanders, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband

• Shelby Short, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia possession, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree persistent felony offender

• Voyd Turner, first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree persistent felony offender. Charges of third-degree criminal trespass and public intoxication against Turner were returned to Madison District Court.

Other indictments:

• Bonnay Martel Benford, first-degree burglary, first-degree persistent felony offender

• James E. Gillispie, third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking, third-degree criminal mischief

• Paula Cope, first- and second-degree perjury

• Jonathan Bolton, flagrant non-support

• Kimberly K. Weddington, first-degree bail jumping

• Drew D. Patterson and Tonya K. Hostetler, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, second-degree persistent felony offender

• Tonya K. Hostetler, second-degree criminal possesion of a forged instrument

Misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and theft by deception against Patterson were returned to district court.

 

An indictment does not indicate guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to prosecute.
