It was the greatest five hours in school this week, when Kingston Elementary students celebrated Derby Day at Madison Southern High School.

The day of fun was planned and coordinated by Madison Southern High School students in the school's Early Childhood Education Pathway program.

From 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the elementary students from Kingston were treated to a variety of activities and games in addition to a big race complete with custom "jockey silk" t-shirts.

High school students also did face painting and supervised Derby hat decorating.

The day ended with each student enjoying a special treat -- Derby Pie.
