Richmond Police are investigating a homicide after an early morning shooting took place on Main Street in Richmond around 1:43 a.m.

Officers responded to a reported burglary with shots fired and upon arrival, police found a male victim with a gunshot wound identified as Freddie J. Biggs, 59, of Waco.

Biggs was taken to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.

Arriving officers were told an unknown male forcibly entered the residence and later fled the scene after Biggs was shot.

According to Rodney Richardson, assistant police chief with RPD, investigators are still on the scene and there is not much information yet about the suspect.

Richardson said there is currently such little to go off in terms of a description other than it is that of an unknown male.

"At this point, we just have to let the investigators do their jobs and hope we can find some more information," he told The Register Friday.

Detectives are at the scene and conducting an investigation. If anyone has information about this investigation, please contact us at 859-624-4776 or
