Jake White Cobb, 96, of Richmond, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015.
He was born September 5, 1918, in Madison County, a son of Mary Jake White Cobb and Richard Cobb Jr., both of whom preceded him in death
Jake was retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot and farmed for many years. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific.
He married Lucille Jones Cobb on September 5, 1947, who also preceded him in death. Jake also was preceded in death by a grandson, Jake Kent Horn, and a brother, Richard (Jane) Cobb III.
Jake was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a life member of the VFW, and a member of the Society of Boonesborough.
He is survived by: his daughter, Mary Lou (John) Horn; a grandson, David Brent (Carla) Horn of Richmond; a granddaughter, Cathy Janell (Bryan) May of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Marie Horn of Davenport, Fla., Abigail Lucille May of Lexington, Brennon Jacob Horn of Richmond, Jackson Weaver May of Lexington and Catherine Riley Horn of Richmond; two nieces, Mary Jane (Ronnie) Ginter, Mildred (Billy Glenn) Turpin; and a nephew, Richard (Martha) Cobb IV, all of Richmond.
Funeral services for Jake W. Cobb will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. James Cox, Bro. John McCord, and Dr. Glenn Birkett officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Joe Ginter, Randall G. Curry, William Franklin Chenault, Charles S. Wagers Jr., Stacy L. Turner, Tom Barnes, Richard Cobb IV, Billy Glenn Turpin and Wesley L. Jones.
