Hello readers, it is a beautiful Sunday afternoon here in Lowell with an abundance of sunshine as I write this. I have good reports that our weather will be much better this coming week, maybe in the 50s and 60s. This is not the November weather that was a part of my growing up, when it would be so cold, even inside our old houses, that I could see my breath as my brothers and sisters sat around a wood fire. I can still remember the coldest of days -- they called it "hog killing time" -- when gathering around an outside fire and cleaning up after the men when they had butchered a hog. Enough said. I could share some stories but it's not getting my job done.
It's Thanksgiving week and this Thursday will be one of celebration in all families as everyone tries to gather for a turkey meal. Some will be "taking of the turkey" on other days. Doug and I plan on being with his Mother in Lancaster on Thursday as her big family makes Thursday a good day.
I will say to all my readers and most especially the good people who bring these special blessings to your house by way of a newspaper -- have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may God bless.
