The Boonesborough Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to announce that Shria A. Holla of Richmond is the winner of the 4th District Kentucky Society Daughters of the American Revol-ution (KSDAR) DAR Good Citizens Essay Scholarship Contest.
The DAR Good Citizens program is designed to recognize outstanding high school seniors who exhibit the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their schools, homes and communities. Holla was selected by the faculty and senior class at Model Laboratory High School as demonstrating these attributes of a good citizen.
Her essay entitled "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It," and a summary of her home, school and community activities were submitted to the KSDAR Good Citizens Committee for the contest.
Boonesborough Chapter Regent Kathy Moats stated "The chapter is delighted to see young adults like Shria so involved in their community. Shira strongly exhibits the characteristics of Good Citizenship that we so need. We congratulate her on the 4th District Scholarship award, and wish the best for her in her future endeavors."
Shria Holla will attend the University of Kentucky as a Singletary Scholar in the Fall of 2020.
