Flatwoods Christian Church at Waco will play host to a concert by Calvary Heirs on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 10:45 am.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Over 70 years ago, J. Vernon McGee was doing a radio broadcast in Pasadena, Calif. He said that on one broadcast, he asked listeners to send letters telling their favorite chapter of the bible. Then he would discuss the chapters in his future radio programs.

Mr. McGee said the overwhelming response was John 14.

Now, that still may be a favorite chapter. We hear it often at funerals because it begins with, "Let not your heart be troubled."

You do not need me to tell you that we have many reasons today for troubled hearts. We are troubled by local drug addiction, COVID-19, statewide issues, national issues and the world troubles. If Jesus were speaking to us today, he would still say, "Let not your heart be troubled."

Now as then, he would remind us that He followed that statement with "Believe in God, Believe in Me."

Faith will get us through our troubles.

He goes on to say that not just faith in anybody or anything but he says, "I am the way the truth and the life." He did not say I am a good way or I am the best way, but it is clear he was saying, "I am the only way." That may seem controversial in today's world but it is still true. The only way to the Father's house is through Jesus.
