The Ruritan Club at Union City met on Monday night.
The club will resume the usual custom of a pot luck meal at the next meeting, which will be July 19 at 7 p.m.
Cook up something and come to the meeting.
The other decision was to have the next fish fry on Saturday, Sept. 18. Work is in progress to connect a generator so if electric power is lost the Ruritan building can become a shelter.
Flatwoods Christian Church at Waco has been blessed with preaching from Charlie Brown of Georgetown for the past few weeks. He retired last year from the Garrison Church near Vanceburg. Charlie is a military veteran and is son of Joe Brown, also a minister in the Christian Church.
We are sorry to hear of the loss of Darrell Bowman. He died in a tragic accident last Friday.
Mr. Bowman had retired from heating and air conditioning business. He was a member of Union City Baptist Church.
He will be missed.
Our sympathy goes to his wife Carol and the family.
I hope all fathers had a good Fathers Day.
Mine was very satisfying.
My wife gave me a new Weber gas grill, which we got on Wednesday night. Thanks to our neighbor, Eric Courtwright, for helping unload it.
We had to try a couple of steaks that night. Then on Sunday, we went to Mt. Carmel in Estill County to preach a Father's Day sermon. Afterwards, my wife, Pat, treated me to a meal at Michael's in Ravenna.
I had Father's day wishes from my daughter, Rashawna, and got a FaceTime call from Roderick and Ezra in San Diego.
All was well.
