Morning Pointe of Richmond recently hosted its first Walker Wash event, where 15 members of the Eastern Kentucky University Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) volunteered to clean the personal care community's residents' walkers of the grime and scuffs that build up over time. SAA is an EKU student organization that works with the students and alumni of the university, but the organization also has a passion for serving the Richmond community. In total, SAA members cleaned about 20 walkers in the span of two hours. "I'm very thankful to SAA for coming out to clean walkers and spend time with the residents," said life enrichment director Kathy West. "We're looking forward to partnering with them on future events." West hopes to continue the tradition of the Walker Wash each spring to allow the residents to showcase their walkers to their loved ones at the community's Easter brunch.
