We understand that paving work on Doylesville Road will begin sometime soon. It will be from Union City to the end of state maintenance at Doylesville. We hope all drivers and workers are cautious during this work.
Last Saturday was a good day. With help of Ron Renfro's truck and trailer, we hauled the restored Allis Chalmers tractor to Estill County Fairgrounds for a display time. Then at 1, the tractor was in Irvine's Mushroom Festival parade. Thanks to Ron for his kindness.
The Ruritan Fish Fry was well attended on Saturday evening. The building was almost full most of the time. Several attended who had not before. From proceeds that came in, it was bigger than any recent fish-fries. It was a good night.
Flatwoods Christian Church at Waco will have a Community National Day of Prayer service, Thursday, May 2, 7 p.m. James Atherton of College Hill United Methodist Church will be the speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Saturday, May 18, 6 p.m., is time of Union City Ruritan Relay for Life Auction and Dinner. There will be ribeye steaks and more. Pies, cakes and crafts will be auctioned.This is always an entertaining event while raising funds for Relay. Mark your calendars.
Plans are underway for a consignment equipment auction Saturday, June 15. Some tractors and farm equipment have already been committed to the sale.
