It's a dark and windy Sunday evening as I write after the heavy rain shower early this morning. The winds all day have brought the pollen down making a really bad day for those with allergies. This is my first year that I've had to suffer from seasonal illness brought on by the many blooming trees, and now, I can empathize with all the others who say "my sinuses are killing me." But then again, the grass is so green and I do love the fresh air after a rain when you can sit and enjoy the evening with absolute quite.
I am not looking forward to cleaning up all the big tree limbs that fell all morning from the strong winds. One such limb fell tearing down my clothesline and I had come away from that spot not 10 minutes before. Doug is always telling me "you're going to get killed under that old tree." But folks, I love the smell of freshly cleaned laundry blowing in the wind. It's like spring cleaning every day when I use my clothesline and God's air.
This past Saturday was the grand opening for Paint Lick's new Dollar General Store and the Assistant Manager Jennifer said it was a big day. My friend Gail and I took our time and went all through the new store. I'd been holding off buying elsewhere, so I did purchase most all I needed and a lot of what I wanted. It was nice to see Paint Lick and Cartersville residents on the move and now I know where to get my ginger snap cookies "in a snap."
The Friends of Paint Lick has been really busy this past week and I believe everyone is spring cleaning their no longer needed items. We try and accept most all that are brought in, but a phone call to ask if we are taking anything is always a nice gesture. Our phone is 925-2417. It is amazing all the stuff that comes in and goes out in one day at Friends. There is no charge for anything that's available and we accept your gently used and clean clothing, small appliances and some furniture. We do not like large items left on the porch, but if you will call, we'll try and find a resource for your unwanted item.
Paint Lick's Good Friday services will be held on April 19 at Paint Lick Christian Church. We will begin at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited to join us. A gathering of many people for the good of our community and to celebrate the life of our wonderful Christ Jesus.
Paint Lick's sister community Kirksville will host their 10th annual Craft Fair and Bake sale this Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the old Kirksville School Building. I encourage all who are interested in just looking and visiting and for sure coming away with something from this great event to just go. You'll love it!
A message to Melanie, I'm sorry we didn't see each other on your birthday but I do love you. I've not been feeling well this week and I would not have been very good company. Melanie was 36 years old on April 13.
Happy birthday to a special friend Ms. Linda Caldwell this Thursday, April 18. A more dependable and dedicated friend cannot be found.
May God bless.
