  <description>The Center for the Performing Arts at Eastern Kentucky University formally introduced Katherine Eckstrand as its executive director Wednesday during a press conference on campus.Since 2005, Eckstrand has been the director of community development for the Ohio Arts Council in Columbus. She previously served as executive director of the Clark State Community College Performing Arts Center in Springfield, Ohio, from 1994 to 2005.In all, Eckstrand has 23 years experience in arts administration and promotion.</description>

  <description>Vaccinations for H1N1 influenza for Madison County middle and high school students that were scheduled to begin today have been postponed until more vaccine doses arrive, according to a news release from the school district.Vaccinnations by the Madison County Health Department had been scheduled for Madison Middle today, with Foley, Clark-Moores and Caudill middle schools slated for Thursday.   <description>The first round of vaccinations were given Monday at four Madison County elementary schools. Kit Carson, Glenn Marshall, Shannon Johnson and Kingston elementaries received the vaccinations from the Madison County Health Department.   <description>At all three schools &#8212; Berea Community Elementary School, Berea Community Middle School and Berea Community High School &#8212; students were sent home Monday and classes were canceled for the remainder of the week.&#8220;It was determined that after 12 percent of our population were absent on Friday and 19 percent of our student population absent (Monday) we should close for the remainder of the week,&#8221; said Donna Lovell, director of pupil personnel for Berea Community School.</description>
