Sichko’s ‘Among Friends’ ranks high on

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND — “Among Friends: Stories from the Journey” by Father Jim Sichko of St. Mark Parish in Richmond is ranked 19th in the category of self-help/spiritual books. It ranks 1,742 among the 10 million books available through the online retailer.

The priest signed copies of his book Thursday night at the church. Despite competition from a downtown parade that inhibited traffic, a large crowd showed up to get personalized autographs for their copies.

The book recounts the unlikely story of Sichko’s bringing a series of nationally known personalities, mostly from the entertainment world, to Richmond for church fundraisers.

The celebrities have ranged from Dolly Parton, Bill Cosby and Donnie Osmond to former First Lady Laura Bush.

Because Sichko’s travels to arrange the appearances figure prominently in the book, United airlines has recommended it for inclusion in Hemispheres, an inflight magazine. And the magazine’s editor has sent Sichko an inquiry.
