McTeggart Irish Dancers of Lexington present Ceili at Church of Our Saviour

RICHMOND — The Kentucky McTeggart Irish Dancers of Lexington will host a ceili at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3

The event is interactive, participatory and geared for all ages and experience levels.

Beverages and finger foods will be provided, and small children through adults are welcome!

Also take some time during the evening to view the church’s art show and sale Art…A Spiritual Gift. A suggested $5 donation at the door is requested to support the event and performers.

“A ceili (pronounced “kay-lee”) is a gathering for Irish music and dance,” said McTeggart spokesperson Allison Duvall.

She encourages families from across Madison County to come and enjoy learning to dance in a fun, casual environment and clap their hands while watching the Kentucky McTeggart Irish Dancers swirl, twirl, and leap!

The McTeggart School of Irish Dance was established in Cork, Ireland, in 1939. The first director was Peg McTeggart, the eldest of four sisters, all of them champion Irish dancers.

Maureen McTeggart Hall (ADCRG) and began teaching dance in 1976 in Denver. The central Kentucky branch of the school was founded in 1995.
