Meals on Saturday, 3-on-3 ball at Dillingham Park

Register staff report

RICHMOND — St. Paul AME Church is partnering with the Salvation Army this weekend to take the SA’s Healthy Meals on Saturday program to Dillingham Park.

In addition to serving food at the Richmond park on Saturday, the two organizations will have a 3-on-3 basketball competition and host a praise band from Richmond’s Northridge Church.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with food served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., said Capt. Mark Love of the Salvation Army.

Taking their cue from the water tower that stands in the park, the organizations are calling the event Flow 2012. It represents a one-time expansion of the Salvation Army’s Healthy Meals on Saturday program, Love said.

Healthy Meals on Saturday serves food on alternating weekends at Smith Village and Robinson Terrace. Normally, the Meals on Saturday program would have been serving in Smith Village this weekend, Love said.
