  • Olla Willis Baker Turpin, 90

    Olla Willis Baker Turpin, 90, of Waco, passed away early Saturday morning, June 20, 2014, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    Mrs. Turpin was born February 6, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Albert and Stella Babb Willis.
    She had retired from Kroger and then retired as a CNA from Kenwood House Nursing Home. She was affectionately known to former co-workers as “Miss Olla” or “Baker.”

    Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Lakes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cartersville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

    Buck was born October 17, 1955, in Madison County, the son of Floyd Cates and the late Reva Jean Lakes Cates.

    Erin Nicole Adams, 7, of Lexington, died in an accident Friday, June 20, 2014.
    Born March 17, 2007, in Winter Haven, Fla., she was a spunky little girl who loved to sing and dance. Erin was a loving big sister and loved to spend time with her family. She was a student at Garden Springs Elementary School in Lexington.

    Floyd Cates Jr., 58, of Dreyfus, known to his family and friends as “Buck,” passed away early Thursday morning, June 19, 2014, at his home.
    Buck was born October 17, 1955, in Madison County, the son of Floyd Cates and the late Reva Jean Lakes Cates.
    He was a farmer and a retired employee of Hayes-Lemmerz Corporation of Berea. He was a member of the Bearwallow Holiness Church and also attended The Liberty Avenue Full Gospel Outreach Church in Berea.

    Jenell Thompson Berry, 63, wife of Paul Berry, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014.
    Jenell was born in Nashville, Tenn., on September 5, 1950, to the late David and Waunita Reavis Thompson. She graduated from the King’s Daughters’ Hospital School of Nursing in 1976, and was a registered nurse at the Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond until her retirement.

    Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Berea. Her services will be 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Blanche was born in Boyle County to the late James Dallas and Lula Belle Collier Robinson. She was retired from GTE where she had been an operator and bookkeeper. She was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church.
