David Parke, 57

RICHMOND — David Brown Parke, 57, the husband of Linda Parke, passed away Saturday morning, November 16, 2013, at his home.

David was born on March 14, 1956, in Madison County, the son of the late Harvey Brown and Ruby Ramsey Parke.

A 1974 graduate of Madison Central High School, he received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

David continued at Eastern, where he had served for over 30 years, presently serving as the EKU Athletics Business Manager.

He was a former board member of the Richmond Little League as well as a former coach.  He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church. David loved his church, his family, his community and the university.

Survivors include: his wife, Linda Quarles Parke; two children, Ashley Beth Parke and Daniel Brown Parke; one brother, Stephen Wayne Parke (Peggy); and nieces Stephanie Parke, Sarah Pinson and Caroline Pinson as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, 425 Eastern Bypass, Richmond, with Pastor Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Butch Adkins, Julian Tackett, Dan McBride, Mike Park, Karl Park, Rick Erdman, Tom Collins, Elvis Dominquez,  J.D. Parks, Hugh Davis, Mark Sandy and Simon Gray.

Honorary pallbearers will be faculty and staff of the EKU Athletic Department.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 425 Eastern Bypass, Richmond, KY 40475, or to further the education of David’s children, donations may be made to Ashley and Daniel Parke, c/o Chase Bank, 405 Leighway Drive, Richmond, Kentucky 40475.

The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, is in charge of the arrangements.
