Carolyn Joyce Johnson, age 68, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at her home in Berea. She was the daughter of the late Jake and Ella Mae Terrill Johnson. She was a native of Berea and a retired employee of Gibson Greeting Cards.
Carolyn is survived by; her daughters, Connie (Larry) Ishmael of Richmond, Beverly (James) French of Mt. Vernon, Barbara (Walker) Judd of Berea; her son, John Gay of Berea; her sister, Pat Deatherage of Berea; her brothers, Edgar (Patsy) Johnson of Berea, Doug Johnson of Berea, John (Sue) Johnson of Ft. Myers, Florida, Jake (Shirley) Johnson of Berea; her grandchildren, Teresa Douglas of Richmond, and Robert Ishmael of Richmond, Brian Ishmael of Richmond; her great-grandchildren, Kingston, Brooks, Gabe Ishmael all of Richmond. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Joyce Gay; her brothers, Frick and his wife Glenna Johnson, and Charlie Johnson.
Funeral services for Carolyn will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Lakes was born June 13, 1930, in Rockcastle County to James and Delia Johnson Abrams.
She was retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company in Lexington. She was a faithful listener of the WLJC Gospel Broadcast and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
